Trumpeter Swan

|
These now endangered birds were once common throughout North America. Hunted to the brink of extinction, small pockets of wild trumpeter swans have been re-established in the last twenty years or so, largely due to the efforts of reintroduction programs. The brown strips on this bird's head and neck indicate that it is a juvenile bird. Adult birds loose these stripes. |
