Dewy Dragonfly

I've been looking for dew covered dragonflies for many years, with no real luck.  One morning in late August, I was fortunate enough to find three in close proximity.  I haven't seen any since - but at least I know that they do indeed exist.

These dragonflies settle into the grass for the night, only to be covered by heavy dew.  In the cool morning they are weighted down by the dew, and also are too sluggish to move.  So they sit patiently and wait for the morning sun to warm and dry them.

The other two dragonflies are in the Insects Gallery, along with a couple of other new shots for this month.
