Silver Falls
June, 2001

Photographing waterfalls can be a daunting task, and the Upper Silver Falls, shown here, proved to be no exception.  The white water in the falls and dark rocks really exceed the film's latitude - especially when using a high contrast film like Velvia. Shooting in late morning direct sun didn't help the situation either.

Given the difficulty with the exposure, I bracketed this shot.  For the image you see here, I scanning in both the 0.7 stop over and under exposed versions, and combined  only the correctly exposed pieces.
