Quincy Mine
June, 2001

When I first visited the Keweenaw in the mid 1980's, the Quincy mine looked pretty scruffy.  This shaft building was painted a dull reddish color, and had considerable rust on it.  Since then the mine has been refurbished and is now a thriving tourist attraction.  It was literally a blast to board a tram and drive into the side of a hill - experiencing a 60 degree temperature drop during the 10 minute ride!
