Snow Crystal

This winter I started using a digital camera - the Pentax *ist-D 6 megapixel SLR - for these snow crystal photographs.  Up till now, I've only shot film because I had no way to achieve the high levels of magnification needed for these shots with my old digital camera.  The digital really renders these images much better than film - the virtual absence of noise really lets the detail shine through.  Also, from a workflow perspective, the digital camera is much more efficient to work with. I no longer have to bracket exposure and focus (which used to result in me shooting up to 9 exposures for each snow crystal shot.)  Now I take the first shot, make the needed adjustments, and usually nail it on shot number two.
