This morning brought dense fog a warm air descended onto the snow covered landscape. Winter is end and spring is coming! Here are a few picture of trees from this foggy morning (click on the images for a much larger file):

A few pictures of trees - older exposures taken on 6x7 negative, reworked using newer techniques (click on the images to see much larger files). This first image is a back lit maple, taking in the Allegan Forest. I still see this tree regularly, but the DNR has started dumping brush and other trash behind it, so it no longer is very photogenic. Taken with a Pentax 6x7, Tri-X 320 in HC-110 Dil H. A number 11 green filter helped lighten up the scene:
This massive tree is in the Ft. Custer Recreation Area (next to the Fort Custer military facility.) Another 6x7 negative reprocessed in 2015 - don't recall the film type on this one:

This winter has been mild here, but with one dark gloomy day after another. None were darker than the winter solstice, which was heavily overcast. I visited some remote coners in the Allegan forest, trod over fields where the berry vines seemed to reach up and snag my boots; and skittered around the edges of the most impenetrable corners of the forest. I sought something that did not want to be found, that bristled, threw up obstacles and pinched the trees together to make a barrier- "go away leave me alone."
I brought a film camera and a couple of rolls of Tri-X, pushed to 1600 to compensate for the gloom...

Back in 2011 I was wandering through a nearby state park and ventured into an abandoned farm silo, a short distance off the trail. It is a place I have visited periodically over the years. This is taken inside the silo - click for a larger image:

Here’s the silo in setting:
