It’s coming right up! The Garage Sale Art Fair is this Saturday at the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds. I’ll be there with hundreds of matted prints, price to sell. Come on by!

Good news arrived a couple of days ago when I learned that one of my photos, Spent, was accepted into the 2009 West Michigan Area Show, hosted by the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts. After a two year hiatus in having work accepted into this show, it’s nice to get a piece in.
This image is one that keeps popping up on this blog, mostly because I like it. It was shot on film with a Holga in October, 2007 and where-else but the Allegan Forest. This was previously exhibited in last year’s Your Best Shot show hosted by the foto foto gallery in Huntinton, NY
The 2009 West Michigan Area Show runs from February 28 – April 26 with a reception on March 1, from 2-4 pm. This year’s juror is Larry Fink.
The Art Etc. Art Fair wrapped up about 24 hours ago… As usual, it was a great event and I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the dozens of visitors who stopped by my booth and took a look at the photos.
And now it’s on to the next event – which will be the Holiday Hop at the Kalamazoo Public Library. It’s Friday, December 5, 2008, from 6 – 8:30 pm. I’ll be there with dozens of other local authors and musicians. In my case – I’ll be signing and selling copies of Imperfect Symmetry – my little book of snow crystal photos.
It’s all part of the December Art Hop in downtown Kalamazoo - which features tons of great art and music.
If you are in the area – stop on by!
It’s that time of year again! Art Etc will again be setting up shop next week at the Oshtemo Campus of Kalamazoo Community College. As in past years, the Art Etc art fair will host several local artists in all media - including photography by yours truly.
So if you are in the area, stop on by. The event gets started Thursday, November 20, from 5 pm to 8 pm. It continues from 9 am to 8 pm on the following Friday and then from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday.
See you there!
Fall is on hand and with it comes Battle Creek’s Fall Art Walk - Fall Into the Arts. I’ll be participating this fall with a dash of winter - a collection of Snow Crystal prints to be displayed in Barista Blues Cafe’.
Located in the ground floor of the heritage Towers, Barista Blues will also be hosting live music at the event.
The Art Walk runs from 5 – 9 on Friday, October 17, 2008. I’ll be there with lots of Snow Crystal prints on the walls of Barista Blues. I’ll also have copies of Imperfect Symmetry – the snow crystal book. Plus there are lots of other artists and events in the city that night. (Not to mention a whole lot of great food and drink.)
If you are area – stop on by. For the full scoop on the Art Walk check out the online brochure at http://www.downtownbattlecreek.com/pdfs/Fall_into_the_Arts_2008_Brochure.pdf.
Spring is really at hand – and there is no better way than to celebrate the change in the seasons than by getting out and enjoying some art. This year I’m participating in Battle Creek’s Spring Into the Arts art walk. I’ll have work hanging at two locations – the Happi Convenience Store and Barista Blues Cafe. Barista Blues is in its new location – right next to Happi’s in the ground floor of the 20 story Heritage Tower Building at 25 West Michigan Avenue.
The Art Walk runs from 5 – 9 on Friday, May 16, 2008. I’ll be there with lots of prints on the walls, along with bins full or matted prints, photo note cards, and copies of Imperfect Symmetry – the snow crystal book. Plus there are lots of other artists and events in the city that night. (Not to mention a whole lot of great food and drink.)
If you are local – stop on by. For the full scoop on the Art Walk check out the online brochure at http://www.downtownbattlecreek.com/pdfs/SpringintotheArts_08.pdf.
See you there!
The 2007 Signature Gallery is open for business!
Signature is a cooperative of Michigan based artists working in almost all media. We meet throughout the year to work on collaborative projects, critique works, and join in group shows. The Signature gallery is an annual tradition, now in its 27th year, of operating a storefront gallery during the holiday season.
I’m delighted to have over thirty framed prints, dozens of matted prints, photo note cards, and copies of the book, Imperfect Symmetry, on hand at the gallery.
The opening reception is tomorrow, December 9, 2007, from noon to five. I’ll be there, but I’ll also be working in the gallery on December 12, 18, and 20th – anyone interested in talking photography is welcome to stop by! I’m also in and out of the gallery almost daily, mostly to restock the bins and card rack.
I was not initially planning on selling the book through the gallery, but made a last minute decision to put it in. Supplies are limited – the Art Etc art fair a couple of weeks ago took a big bite out of my inventory – but more copies are on their way.
For more info on the Signature gallery, including a virtual tour showing most of the work, check out www.signatureartistcoop.com .
The Signature gallery is located at 5027 W. Main, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The gallery is in the West Century Center, just left of McGuinnis Landing Restaurant. The gallery runs from December 6 – 24, 2007. If you are in the area – stop on by!
